Bible Study: Genesis 5

Not a whole lot of spiritual insight in Genesis 5, unless I am missing something. You have to think that they didn’t age like we do, otherwise what does a 969 year old look like. It seems their child bearing years are around a 100, since these look like firstborns that are being named. Imagine a marriage that lasts 900 years. That’s who needs to be doing pre-marital counseling.
Enoch is definitely the major conversation point in this chapter. I think he is one of the two people that never die (Elijah is the other). Since Enoch was faithful to God, it brings up a point that Paul will bring up later. Which is better: to remain on earth and do God’s will or to die (or have God take you) and be with Him? I guess God decided it was better for Enoch to be with Him.
Also interesting to think that as far back as Adam was a descendant of Noah’s, he only dies 256 years before Noah. Some guys had great-great-great-great grandfathers that were still alive when they were born.

Immortality…gotta get me some of that
