God is a Girl?

According to Dr. Albert Mohler, there seems to be a movement towards gender neutral language when referring to God. Last year the Presbyterian Church received a document that called for the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to be renamed. Some of the suggested replacements were Sun, Light and Burning Ray or Fire That Consumes, Sword That Divides and Storm That Melts Mountains. Of course there was also a strictly female suggestion of Compassionate Mother, Beloved Child and Life-Giving Womb.
Most of you will probably just laugh this off since in the Bible, God the Father is never referred to as female and you’ve never seen a female picture of Jesus (though never a non-white Jesus either). However a little research will reveal that the Hebrew word for Spirit (ruwach), is actually a feminine noun. And the Greek for Spirit (pneuma) is gender neutral. I’m sure you understand that actual gender is in no ways an effect of what type of grammar is used. And the Apostle John seems to be very convinced that the Spirit is masculine (see John 1:32, 14:17, 14:26, 15:26). You may also ponder how you assign gender to a deity who wouldn’t seem to have a need for gender specific body parts.
Regardless of whether you care or not, Dr. Mohler talks about this growing trend as well as the trend away from “loaded” terms such as Lord.
Reporter Stephanie Innes, describing the “Come & See” worship service at St. Philip’s, noted: “There’s not much Lord in this church service.” It may well be that more accurate words have never been used in such a report — or more damning.
Read Dr. Mohler’s article here and let me know which gender God you prefer.

Are you kidding? The Bible is so explicit about God’s maleness, there can be no doubt about it. This is a joke. When one ceases to call God what He has revealed himself to be, one ceases to believe His word, and by extention ceases to be a Christian. It’s not male chauvinism, it is simply the truth.
This is similar to being offended at the idea that Abe Lincoln was a male. You could say, “the writings about Abe have traditionally been interpreted to present him as male, but that’s not nessesarily the case. Also, I don’t like calling him the president. That seems to suggest authority.”
Lu 6:36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
Lu 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Lu 12:30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
Lu 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Joh 8:38 ¶ I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
Joh 8:41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
Joh 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
These are a few out of hundreds. Not one verse refers to God as our heavenly mother. If you want to believe in female diety, find some other faith.
