May I direct you to an excellent teaching tape, from Chichester Christian fellowship in Sussex England. The tapes are called “The Giants of Genesis chapter 6″. Where all your questions are answered. The tapes are by “Roger Price” now with the Lord, and he had an annoited teaching ministry. As far as I am concerned the whole mystery is easily explained and cleared up with these two tapes. I have it on mp3 but some of the volume is quite low.

The reason they existed was because Satan was attempting to contaminate the human race, because He had been told that from the seed of a woman he would have his head crushed. So he set about contaminating mankind to prevent the seed of a woman defeating Him.
In all the world it was only Noah and his family that were NOT contaminated. Of course there is a great deal more to it than that. There is real revelation in these tapes. So I urge you to try and obtain them.

Check out They Might Be Giants: Part I
It deals with the Nephilim who were around pre-flood. Apparently Noah or someone on the Ark had that gene, since the other giants appear post-flood. Maybe it was a recessive gene in his son’s wives, I’m not sure, but the giant trait was not wiped out by the flood

I do not remember reading i this article but, did you say anything about the fact that the giants or giant relatives were mentioned pre and post flood? This is a tricky bit of stuff cause if everything was wiped out then… well you see where i am going. Just curious check it out!
